24 – 31 March: It was difficult for me to concentrate on anything much during week 13 as I knew we’d be going to the Divergent premiere on the Sunday and that was taking up almost all of the space in my head!
It was a good week though. I had an enlightening conversation with Mr F about my art journal and how he is almost overwhelmed by how much there is to see on each page, and that I’ve filled lots of art journals and every page is different. He said I need to remember the quote I added into week 11:
“Modern art = I could do that + yeah, but you didn’t.” (Craig Damrauer)
The reason? Because I do feel like there are a lot of people out there (fellow art journal keepers excepted!) who see my art journal pages and think “That’s not art, even I could do that!” and yet… they don’t.
It was also a good week because my daughter faced several major personal challenges, which weren’t at all easy for her, but she did them anyway! I’m proud of her.
After Sunday’s adventures in London, I looked up some quotes online from the ‘Divergent’ book and found this one that sums me up over the last couple of years:
“But I will find new habits, new thoughts, new rules. I will become something else.” (Veronica Roth, Divergent)
Something else that is fitting: to have Asperger’s is to be neurodivergent. I love that word because it reminds me of the excellent book & movie and reminds me that, like the main character, I am not the same. I’m a square peg in society’s round hole. And I’m OK with that.
